Paid Traffic

Lessons I’ve learned so far

June 9, 2014 — by Adam Hunt0

I’ve been running my campaigns for some time now with different networks. They are AdKnowledge, LeadImpact and 50onred. I’ve also gone with Google Adwords and Facebook Ads. So I thought it might be a good idea to tell you what is going on with the and how they have performed. I talked about it in some posts, but in case you haven’t read them, here it goes.

The first network I opened an account with was Adknowledge. Reading many reviews, I thought it would be a good idea. After few days of not really getting any conversions and my impressions dropping to about 3 per day, and of course because of them not being able to explain to me, what in the world is going on, I decided to ask for all my money to be sent back. Luckily they had no problem with it and I got it back within days. The reason why it didn’t perform I think is because of my geotargeting and a very specific category, which was currency trading. Oh yes, you can only chose a category and not keywords. I think it would’ve performed better had I targeted USA. But since I couldn’t do that I got poor results. I still think Adknowledge is a good way to go, but I need to target the states or a very broad category. I’m sure I’ll give it a shot later.

Second network I contacted was 50onred. I was going to go with Media Traffic which is supposed to be a great pop up network, but after reading some of the latest reviews, I decided not to and started to look for an alternative. Some people on forums suggested 50onred mainly because the initial deposit is 500USD and not 1000USD as it is with other networks. So I opened an account with them and created my campaigns. They were all the same, but with different geotargeting. I got mixed feelings about this network. It’s cost me 350USD so far to get 50 subscribers. Now is that good? I don’t know. The reason I don’t know if it is any good is because I don’t sell anything. I need them to open an account with a brokerage firm in England. No one has done that so far so I can really tell if it is good or not.

The third network is Lead Impact. I opened an account using the money I got back from Adknowledge and I can honestly tell you I’m disappointed with this network. Reading all the reviews and people talking about what a great paid traffic source it is, I can’t really see that. Again, it might be for USA but not for other countries it just sucks I think. For example, I got absolutely no impressions when targeting Belgium. I know you might say that it’s because of my targets, but trust me; my targets are very thoroughly researched. I even changed my IP for the results to be even more accurate. So there is nothing wrong with them. And as you would imagine, after seeing these dismal results I asked for my money back and I got it within few days, so that’s nice. I will use Leadimpact for some other campaigns, but only if I target the USA.

Google Adwords, as we all know, is pretty horrible when it comes to highly competitive keywords. Because I am in currency trading, you can imagine how expensive some of the keywords are. I know I know… you think I should go for long tail keywords, but trust me; they can’t get any longer. So again, not performing as much as I had hoped.

Facebook Ads, on the other hand, are doing pretty well so I’m really pleased with that. I’ve only used it for couple of days now, but I got some likes, comments and also few sign ups, so that’s good.

The next step is to use mailing list. I contacted Investing.com, BabyPips and FXstreet about advertising with them through their list. BabyPips doesn’t offer that and Investing.com is ridiculously expensive. I’m going to go with FXstreet because they can geotarget and a list of about 1800 subscribers is going to cost me around 250USD. I think that is pretty good. I’ll let you know how that goes.

I also created a new landing page where I added an ebook to download. Check it out HERE. Big thanks goes to lead pages because I was able to download that template for free and just customized it a bit.

I am really excited about the mailing list and hope a lot of new subscribers will come from it.

Cheers guys.
